Christopher Kane is a brilliant, innovative designer, but many (this writer included) believed he simply took it ‘too far’ when he sent models down the runway in crystal-encrusted Crocs at London fashion week in September.
But Christopher Kane isn’t concerned with what I – or anyone else for that matter – thinks about his footwear decisions. “I don’t really care what anyone thinks,” he told WWD at an event in London overnight. “I don’t think anyone’s got the right to say right or wrong, unless they’re God, otherwise just shut up.”
The Scottish designer went on to profess his love for Crocs (“I love them”), and bought the oft-debated issue of democracy in fashion into play. “Obviously people do like them, and that’s a different customer that I want to grab. I want to include everyone and not be a snob.”
