Having called upon photographer Steven Meisel for the shots, the AW16 campaign stars longtime Dior muse, Julia Nobis, in a series of images capturing movement and dynamism during a period of change at the French powerhouse. The campaign comes as rumours circle as to who might take the helm at the brand, with Valentino’s joint creative director Maria Grazia Chiuri tipped for the position.
Since Raf Simons’ departure from Dior last year, Serge Ruffieux and Lucie Meier have led the brand’s in-house design team in the absence of a permanent creative director.
The pair’s recent shows have looked to steady the ship. Their collection for AW16 was a classic nod to the maison’s staple silhouettes, delivered in the mirrored tunnels of Paris’ Cour Carré. And, most recently, their Cruise 2017 looked to the style of the English country set, fittingly delivered at Oxfordshire stately home Blenheim Palace, and combined quintessential English countryside staples (think tweed, foxhunt prints and tweed), with Dior mainstays including the jacquard bar jacket.
